Tim Farron’s Liberal Democrats have selected Irfan Ahmed as their candidate for Blackburn in the snap general election that’s been called by the Prime Minister for the 8th June 2017. Irfan who is an IT Consultant is standing for the first time in a general election and has promised to fight a hard Brexit if elected.
Commenting on his selection, Irfan Ahmed said:
“I am honoured to have been selected by the Liberal Democrats in Blackburn as their candidate. My message is clear, I will stand up to Theresa May’s hard Brexit if elected to Parliament.”
Irfan Ahmed has also pledged to campaign for more funding from Central Government for Blackburn’s A&E Department and for more jobs in Blackburn if elected. Irfan said:
“If elected I will be banging on the doors of Whitehall demanding the Government invests more money into Blackburn’s A&E Department that is struggling to cope.”
